Committed cabbie goes door-to-door at block of flats just to return passenger’s mobile phone

For every story about an exasperating taxi ride, there are plenty of incidents where cabbies show passengers kindness and stick firmly to their morals. Like this driver, who actually went out of his way to return a woman her mobile phone.

On Saturday, one netizen took to Facebook to express her gratitude towards a ComfortDelGro taxi driver who turned up at her door with her phone not too long after he dropped her family at their destination. Apparently, the man realized she had left her belongings behind in the vehicle and quickly made a detour back to her block. There, he knocked on every single unit until he found her.

Thankfully, her flat was on the third floor.

“Time is money for taxi drivers,” she said, explaining that the kind cabbie saved her life, as her phone contained all her appointments and client details for the rest of the year.

Even though she didn’t manage to get his name, she revealed in a subsequent comment that she gave him a small sum as a gesture of appreciation for his efforts.

On Monday, ComfortDelGro gave a shout out to the cabbie in question, who apparently spent 45 minutes diligently searching for his passenger.

Good on him for going the extra mile.
